Esquinas Rainforest Lodge
Hidden in the jungle of remote Piedras Blancas National Park in southern Costa Rica, Esquinas Rainforest Lodge is surrounded by thousands of acres of untouched wilderness. The open main building with it's roof made of 60,000 palm leaves was called "a marvel of architecture" by GEO Magazine. It houses the reception, lounge, bar, and restaurant. Here, guests can enjoy one of our exotic cocktails while listening to an ongoing concert of birds, cycads, and frogs - accompanied by the pleasant gurgle of Quebrada Negra, the stream which forms the border of Piedras Blancas National Park. Our library contains a large collection of books about rainforest animals and plants, and the gift shop sells shampoos, jewellery, and handicraft made by local Indians and the women of La Gamba.
All 14 rooms have a private bathroom with hot water shower, ceiling fan and full screening. Each room is decorated with colorful materials woven by the Guaymi and Boruca Indians and can be used as a single, double or triple room. Hummingbirds, parrots, toucans and many more of the 300+ species of birds found here frequent the trees and flowers surrounding the seven bungalows.
We take pride in serving typical Costa Rican food prepared with organic products from our own vegetable garden, typical products of the region, and natural products like freshly caught fish from Golfo Dulce. Many dishes include tropical vegetables and fruits that guests have probably rarely or never eaten before
